Please follow these guidelines to create a safe and supportive educational environment for yourself and your classmates.
COCC students come from many different backgrounds and have unique thoughts and life experiences. Respect your classmates while they're speaking. Don't interrupt, and give everyone a chance to participate equally. Always use preferred names and pronouns.
Every student has valuable skills and ideas to contribute to the shared learning experience. Don't make disparaging comments about yourself or others, even as a joke. In debates critique concepts, not people.
Use computers and mobile devices only for activities relevant to the lesson. During group discussions, actively listen and participate in the conversation. If you need to use your phone for personal communications, wait for breaks or step outside.
COCC furthers its commitment to diversity through an ongoing atmosphere of mutual support and respect and fostering an awareness, acceptance and encouragement of different cultures, values and viewpoints.~COCC Values and Future Directions
